Aboration or Odoption

Considering adoption or abortion can be a very tough decision but in the end, it might be the best decision. In the movie Juno, the pregnant teen decides to put her baby up for adoption. She realizes that all she wants is the best for her baby and she can not give it her best so she puts it up for adoption.

Teens chose abortion for many different reasons. They ask themselves, do I want this baby?, can I afford to have this baby?, how will this impact my life, and many other questions. The teens decision to abort is effected by where she lives, her religious beliefs, her realtionship with her parents, access to family planning services, her educational level, and the behavior of her peers. The reason most teens give for wanting an abortion are not wanting their whole life changed by a baby, not being able to afford a baby, and not feeling mature and responsible enough to support the baby. Hopefully, all parents will put the thought of their baby first and make the best decision.

Some people believe that abortion is considered murder, so they choose adoption. In some cases, once the child finds out they are adopted they go through a very hard struggle on excepting the fact that those are not their real parents. It gets even trickier when it comes to international adoption because they children are brought from their country into another country and then they look different in their adoptive family. Hopefully, the child understands that their birth parents were making the best decision and their adoptive parents love them just like they are their own child.

The Baby's Dad

Everyone has their own story of how their teenage pregnancy went, but one thing that seems to always be a problem is the father of the baby. In some cases, like the movie "Juno" in the end the dad is going to be there to support the mother and the baby. When they first find out they are going to be a dad, the boy is usually shocked and heart broken, and in some cases, leaves the mother to now raise a baby on her own. Like I mentioned, in the movie Juno, the boyfriend and girlfriend broke up once she found out she was pregnant but they got back together in the end right before the baby was born.

Something different that could happen is the boyfriend and girlfriend totally breaking up and the child is raised with two different home lives. In the TV show, "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" the parents do not get back together and the baby is raised by them seperatley. Of course, the parents will still need to stay in contact to talk about the baby but other than that they are nothing. Hopefully, this will start to happen less because sometimes it can cause issues between the two families and other drama that is not needed.

In some people's cases, the father is there through the whole thing and in the end they get married and raise the baby together. For example, Jamie Lynn Spears and her boyfriend stayed together through out her prgnancy and got married after the baby was born. Everyone's story is different and no on knows whats going to happen until is does happen. Sometimes teen pregnancy is not as bad as people make it seem, but sometimes it's even worse.

Peer Pressure

At a high school in Massachuetts 17 girls, four times the usual number, all 16 and younger got pregnant at the same time. According to the principal, the girls all made a pact to get pregnant and have the babies at around the same time. Just a couple months before, two officals at the high school health center resigned to protest the local hospital's refusal to support a proposal to distribute contraceptives to young kids at the school with out a parent's consent.

Boys are more likely to be pressured into having sex before they are ready to. Most of the boys believe that waiting to have sex is a good idea, but few actually do wait. Usually, they boys get pressured by their other male friends. Girls usually do no feel as pressured to have sex but they definitley still are pressured. Some kids, boys and girls, just feel like since everyone else is doing it they might as well do it too. Well, then they do it and the next thing they know, they are standing there look at their new baby.

There are many different pressures to having sex, espcially when you are a teenager. Some people believe that school are teaching a "stay abstinent" view of teenage sex instead of the truth and how to protect yourself, others believe it's the media and there are many other factors. Many girls think that once they have been dating their boyfriend for a while it's okay to start being sexually active and they don't really think to themselves, hey in a month I could be pregnant, but maybe to prevent teenage pregnancies, boys and girls do need to start thinking like that.
