There is a new form of birth control out called "Plan B", and there are a lot of different opionions about it. The reason it is so contraversial is because there is no prescription or parent approval needed. Some people believe that this is wrong because 17 year old girls are not wise enough to make their own decisions, especially when it comes to the decision of a child. Another reason people do not agree with it is because they think it is promoting unprotected sex and that will result in more sexually transmitted diesases. Another fear is that 17 year old girls will buy the pill for their younger friends or family members and then they are encouraging 15 year olds and younger teen agers to have sex. Many parents believe that this is not what is best for their daughters.

There are many different types of birth control and some ways work better for certain women. No form of birth control is one hundred percent accurate, and what you decide to use is just the risk that you and your partner take. The pill contains hormones that will regulate your period and also lower your risks of becoming pregnant. There are risks to all forms of birth control, for example: some doctors think that if you conceive right after stopping the pill, you have a higher risk of having a miscarriage. But, all forms of birth control have positives and negatives.

Something newly discovered is a birth control pill that uses hormones from natural plant sources rather than synthetic hormones. The company who made the pill claims that users of the pill experienced shorter less painful periods then those who use the normal pill. The pill works by altering the bodies horomones to stop them from releasing an egg. There is scientific evidence to support the theory that the hormones that are made with the natural plant sources are a safer and better alternative.

Media and Teen Pregnancy
In some ways, the media does a very good job of showing the affects of teen pregnancy and in other ways, not so much. In the show, "The Secret Life of the Aamerican teenager" in some episodes they show the real side of it better than others. In the show, Amy gaver birth to John with Ricky who is the "bad boy" in school. They show how Amy can't go out anymore and she always needs to find a babysitter, and that really starts to frustrate her. In other episodes though, they just foget about the baby and he is not even in that episode. That is when it starts to get fake. Everyday the parent must be with the baby and take care of them. You can't always have someone else do your work and watch your baby.

Another movie that show Teen Pregnancy is "Juno". This movie shows a different side to pregnancy then the usual movies or show. In "Juno" the mother and father decide to put the baby up for adoption which is one of the hardest decisions that parents have to make. The movie does a good job showing how sometimes the father might freak out and not really want anything to do with the baby at first but then they realize they need to be there for this baby and for the mother.

In an article that I read, people are concerned that the media is promoting teen pregnancy by making all of theses shows and movies about it. Some people may look at it that way, but other will look at it as the medias way of just showing the real affcts of it. Neither way is correct it is everyone's personal opionion. The article also says that the media just shows the prenancy and not what happens before or after. In some ways I think this is true but in other ways I think it is not. For example in some shows and movies they show what happens after and how the people's whole entire life is changed forever.
